Revitalization of protected settlement areas in the Slovenian Karst

Many villages in the Slovenian Karst area are protected as settlement heritage and represent a special identity of the region and in some cases an exceptional cultural landscape of local or national importance.
Revitalizing cultural heritage and preserving the social, environmental, and visual function of cultural heritage is critical to the effective, sustainable development of cultural or heritage tourism.
Utilizing the potential of a recognizable cultural landscape as the region's unique settlement heritage, its physical appearance as symbolic meaning, and its testimonies has broader significance, in economic, social, cultural, civic, and other related areas.
